The art museum by the sea for Belgian art, with complete openness and accessibility. Mu.ZEE creates an active space for the public and artists where art can be approached in a relaxed, free and creative way.
Highlights of the collection include a reconstruction of the study and the library of the Belgian Nobel Prize-winner Maurice Maeterlinck, two rooms housing the work of artists who illustrated Maeterlinck’s work, and a Chinese salon.
MDD (Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens), located close to the village center of Deurle and on the Leie, has a rich collection of Flemish artists. These works were collected by the Jules and Irma Dhondt-Dhaenens couple from the end of the 1920s.
