About this artwork

The painting offers a lively picture of the hospital site and its rural character. The branch of the Reie that flows in a wide curve around the hospital grounds includes a ford and washing place. A small structure has been built against the north wall for drying the washing. Hospital residents walk around the grounds dressed in red and blue jackets Bruges' municipal colours.
