About this artwork

The group furthest to the right at the back of the central pannel is the most numerous group comprising as it does all the female saints martyrs and confessors alike. They are all garlanded in flowers and hold palms of victory. Several of the figures can be identified: Agnes with the Lamb Barbara with the tower Dorothy with the basket of flowers and Ursula with the arrow. Alongside them stand all manner of anonymous women including an abbess with her staff.
